An Update!

Merry (after) Christmas!

We had a great, busy few days with both sides of my husband's family and celebrated a wonderful holiday. I had a couple more pictures to put up that I had forgotten, and I wish I had taken pictures of everything. This is a lunch tote or clutch bag for my sister-in-law Katie.

Here is a bag I made for my other sister-in-law Heather.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and has a very safe New Year!

Been a while...

So it has been a little while since I have been able to sew anything and I only have a week to finish my Christmas purses (eek!) So here is my to-do list and I will post pictures as I frantically try to finish them!

*a black and white polka dot purse for my step-sister-in-law Heather
*a pink purse for our great friend Kate
*a doggie collar bag for my mother-in-law's dog Angus
*a quilt block for my Mom, but she probably won't get that until after Christmas :(
*a black and white polka dot clutch for my Step-mother-in-law Sharon.

I will try to do all of these Sunday and during brief napping hours Monday and Tuesday. Thursday we have Christmas with one set of in-laws, Friday with the other set so I need to get these done before then.

Wish me luck!!

Coffee Cozy

So I tried making a coffee cozy for my momma to go into her purse to use as needed. I used this tutorial and used velcro instead of a button. Now she can keep her hot hot coffee in check without having to use those cardboard thinggies. Please don't judge my lines on this one, I know it's pretty icky, I just wanted to see if it would work. I does look a little better in person :)

Attempting a Diaper Bag Version

So I took a break from making the Christmas purses to try and make a diaper bag version with some of the left-over fabric I had. I really wanted to see if that many pockets would work in a medium-sized bag before I tried to make one for someone else. It's a pre-quilted material (since I am low on interfacing) so it ended up being quite thick with all the pocket layers.

Here is the outside (same pattern as all the others). I made a little pocket on the top for keys or chapstick.

Here is the inside. It has 2 diaper pockets, one for Dane and one for Victoria (it has their initials on each side) :) It has 2 pockets below that for wipes and whatever. There are also several small pockets for the little things that I can never find in my bag, like hand sanitizer.

The other side has 3 insulated pockets for bottles and snacks.

And here it is from the outside when it is completely filled. Not too bad. There are still several things I would change. I would make the bag slightly larger and the base wider to accommodate everything a kiddo needs.

Bag #3

This bag was a little tricky for me. I ran out of regular interfacing after the lining, so I used some fusible fleece that I had from another project. It actually looks really nice and will hold it's shape better I think. So it makes me a little bummed that I didn't use the fleece on the other bags. And this one was a short yard, so there wasn't much fabric for pockets. Actually, there weren't even scraps big enough for a pocket. I had to sew the scraps together to form one pocket and one pen slip. And I forgot to put in a key fob! I'll have to figure out how to put one in after-the-fact today. Here's the pics.

I also had a dream last night about these bags and turning one into a "mom" bag, like a more compact diaper bag. I might give that a try. I'll post as I go :)

Bag #2

Okay so I finally got some small sliver of time to get this bag done. Kyle is going to give me Saturday "off" so I can do as many of my Christmas craft gifts as possible!

Okay, so here's #2! Made especially for my favorite Mommy.

Here's the outside (Joel Dewberry Chestnut Hill fabric). It's hard to see the details on the picture, but it is the same exterior as bag #1, pleats and all.

Here's the inside. It has 7 regular pockets, 5 pen slips, a file-folder/binder/book pocket with velcro closure, a key fob, and a magnetic closure.

One Down!!

Yippee!! One is done and I am so thrilled! I made it with 5 pockets, 3 pen slips, magnetic clasp, and key fob. Check it out!

An up-close of the home-made tags for my purses. It was so easy to make these it was ridiculous!

And I made a clutch and it was a bit of a disaster, so I may be scraping those all together and figure something else out!
